What this calculator does
It answers questions like "what date is 10 business days from today?" or "if the deadline is 30 working days after March 3, when is it?" — the way a person with a calendar would: the day after the start date is day one, weekends do not count, and public holidays do not count either. Put in a negative number to go backwards, for example to find the last day a notice can be sent so that it arrives 5 working days before a hearing.
The result shows the finishing date with its weekday, how many calendar days that turned out to be, and exactly which weekend days and holidays were skipped, so you can double-check the reasoning.
Which holidays are skipped
National or federal public holidays for the United States (with observed dates), United Kingdom (England & Wales bank holidays), Canada (federal statutory holidays), Australia (national holidays) and Germany (nationwide Feiertage). State, provincial and company holidays are not included — paste them into the custom box and they are skipped too. Untick "Exclude public holidays" to count weekdays only.
Typical uses
- Deadlines and notice periods — contracts, court filings and HR processes are usually written in business days.
- Delivery and lead times — "ships in 3–5 business days" becomes an actual date.
- Project planning — a task that takes 15 working days ends on a date you can put in the calendar.
- Payroll and finance — settlement dates (T+2), payment terms and cut-offs that skip bank holidays.
The Excel equivalent
This page does what =WORKDAY(start_date, days, [holidays]) does in Excel and Google Sheets, with the holiday list already filled in. If you use a non-standard weekend (say Friday and Saturday) Excel needs WORKDAY.INTL with a weekend code; here you just tick the days. Results match Excel's convention that the start date itself is not counted.

Frequently asked questions
Is the start date counted as day one?
No. Like Excel's WORKDAY function, counting starts the day after the start date. If you add 1 business day to a Friday you get the following Monday.
What if the start date is a weekend or holiday?
That is fine — the calculator simply starts counting from the next working day.
Can I subtract business days?
Yes. Enter a negative number, for example −10, to go back ten working days.
Which countries' holidays are supported?
United States, United Kingdom (England & Wales), Canada, Australia and Germany at the national level. Add regional or company holidays in the custom box.
Does it handle observed holidays?
Yes. US federal holidays falling on a weekend are skipped on the observed weekday; the UK, Canada and Australia use their substitute-day rules.
